    original "about" file

Welcome to Crafted by Carol. I have been crafting for many years, using a variety of mediums. A couple of years ago while playing with coated copper wire and creating jewelry, my partner said that my work deserved better wire. I invested in sterling silver and gold filled wire and my jewelry making has taken on a whole new phase. I am constantly looking for new ways to express my creativity, so check the site often for new items. As of June 2002, there will be lots of new things. When my computer crashed in November of 2001, I lost everything and have not had the umph to get back to update my site. So stay tunned!

This is me in my craft room. I love working with my hands, and I was fortunate to discover this early in my life. When I was fourteen, I wanted some new clothes. Since I am one of nine children, my mother suggested that I could learn how to make my own. With a few stops and starts I learned to sew, and for years supplied my clothes off the bolt. It has also given me a great deal of pleasure to give handmade gifts. Over the years I have learned to cross-stitch, do woodworking, papermaking and a myriad of other crafts. Each craft holds a special interest for me. What could be next? Without letting go of old crafts, I am always on the lookout for new things to pique my interest. Maybe someday I will combine all my crafts into one!

So,what could be next looks like it might be making my own beads. It might be a year before I start showing anything that I've made, but I have been bitten (smitten) by the idea!

As my father's daughter, I am grateful for the gift of being spatial. And of course I am also grateful to look like my mother! I am so grateful to have gifts from both of my parents that I can treasure and share.

A special thank you to my partner and best friend Jan Steinman, for all his help in getting my website up and running.
